Good Morning Girls

A good friend of mine introduced to me this online devotion guide called, “Good Morning Girls.” It goes through steps that spell out the word SOAP. “S” stands for scripture, you read the passage and then write out the highlighted verses. “O” stands for observation, where you write out anything you observe from the verses you wrote down. “A” stands for application, where you write out how the verses are applied to your life. “P” stands for prayer, and she has a separate prayer journal that goes along with it. This guide has been such a help to me. They give you specific passages to read, which is nice, but I like that you really can do your own thing with it if you like or needed to.
Today the section was Psalms chapter 84 and the highlighted verses were verses 11-12. “For The Lord God is a sun and shield: The Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.”
First I felt led to focus on the words “sun” and “shield” The sun is what gives us light and warmth and provides nourishment for our body. A shield protects us from harm. After that I decided to focus on the rest of the verse. The part that says, “no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Stuck out.
God doesn’t withhold good from those who walk upright, so if he answers no, it’s either because it isn’t as good as you thought, or your not walking upright.
This was my application; When God says no to our prayers, it isn’t that He doesn’t love us. He is our protector and nourisher, He knows what is really good for us. When He has answered “no” it’s because He knows it isn’t the best thing for us at that time.
