What has your child’s heart?

I decided to occasionally deviate from my current text because otherwise I will miss out on sharing things God is laying on my heart along the way.
I ran across an article the other day about raising a pure and godly son. To be completely honest I really don’t realize the true weight of the battle our men face with their flesh. This article was from a mothers point of view and she was sharing what SHE did for her son to help him stay pure. Before this I never realized that I had a personal responsibility over my sons purity and that there are things I can do to raise him to be pure and godly.
I often think a lot about the influence I have on my daughter and how she looks up to me, but I really rarely think about what kind of influence I have over my son.
I want my son to be different than many of the boys he will meet. I want him to love God and to flee from ungodliness. I want him to have a heart to please God everyday.
Last night we got to talking about games and movies. Sadly it’s true that the screen has stolen our boys hearts. I am very thankful that my husband made the decision before we were married to give up his video games. Not that video games are just absolutely wicked in themselves, but the truth is that video games and movies are stealing away our time and energy for God! I honestly believe that if we got truly busy serving God then we would not have time for those things! I know this personally because alot of my friends will say that they watch movies and play games when there is nothing else to do. Well my husband and I agreed early on to not have a tv in our home, (although we do occasionally watch movies/tv) we honestly have not experienced boredom in our home! It’s actually quite the opposite! We wish we had time to be bored lol!
My main reason for this post was to challenge you as a mother or father to examine your childrens’ lives and to see what really has their hearts?

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:19-21 KJV)
